Aussie Racing Cars, V8 Supercars, Eastern Creek, 2008

Thirty three cars were entered for the 2nd round of the V8 Supercars, held at Eastern Creek International Raceway, on Friday, March 7th. The first session was of 20 minutes duration, starting at 10:00am. Gary brought the SuperCheap Auto Racing Commodore ARC home with a best lap of 1:51.5849 within 7 secs of the frontrunners.

Qualifying

Qualifying saw Gary improve his lap times by 2 secs, and move up two places on the grid.

Race 1

Gary set his best time on lap 3 whilst in 23rd position. He then continued picking up places, moving to 20th on the penultimate lap. Race 1 was 10 laps in duration.

Race 2

Race 2 was a see-sawing event for Gary, shuffling up and down in the field as the race progressed before finally finding some good pace on lap 6 picking up four places three laps from the flag, and then another on the penultimate lap, coming home in 22nd position. Fastest lap of the race was set by Nick Simmons but he could only manage a third place behind Ward and Kemal. Richie Rappa was a DNF.
