Introduction

Sixteen cars presented on the dummy grid for the seventh round of the Mini Challenge. Included in the field were V8Supercar driver Paul Morris, AFL footballer Jason Akermanis, golfer Stuart Appelby, as well as Tasmanian driver Jason White.

Fastest in the first session of practice was Paul Stokell, followed closely by Jason Bargwanna and the abovemtnioned White. Stokell's best lap was 1:02.6131.

Gary was fourth fastest, his best position in recent rounds, with a time of 1:03.3802.

The second practice session saw four drivers under 1:03. Gary was fourth once again, but almost half a second quicker and much closer to polesitter Paul Stokell.

Qualifying [Saturday]

Qualifying was hampered by wet weather and times were down on the first two practice sessions. Todd Fiore took the pole for Race 1 and Gary slipped down the order, was still in the top 10 and still less than a second behind Fiore.

Race 1 [Saturday]

Race 1 was won by Paul Stokell, who swapped places with polesitter Todd Fiore. Gary set the second fastest lap time behind 9th place Scott Bargwanna. AFL star Jason Akermanis had a big moment, rolling his Mini on the opening lap.
