Final Round Decider at Symmons Plains!

Symmons Plains is the scene for the final round of the 2007 Australian Performance Car Chjampionship with up to five drivers capable of winning. Peter Floyd and Barrie Nesbitt (both in HSV Holdens) will fight it out with a trio of Mitsubishi EVO drivers in Gary, Graham Alexander and Mark King.

There are two practice sessions on Friday, with Qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday, and the final two races on Sunday.

Practice

PRACTICE 1: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16th

Floyd threw out the challenge early to the others with a sub 1min hot lap in the HSV but in Practice 2 Gary turned the tables by topping the timesheets with a 1:00.1503, just ahead of Floyd, King and Alexander. Nesbitt dropped from the charts with mechanical problems.

Qualifying

The action hotted up in the crucial morning qualifying session with many of the title contenders posting sub 1min laps, and Peter Floyd even going to a 58sec hot one. He was hustled along by Barrie Nesbitt, Gary and a return to form Mark King. Graham Alexander could only manage a 6th place on the starting grid for Race 1.

Race 1

Gary finished a hard earned 2nd place in the first of three deciding races, just behind Barrie Nesbitt in the HSV Holden. Peter Floyd's title chances were hit for six when he suffered a DNF with a mechanical failure. Graham Alexander remained in the fight, however, with a third ahead of a fast-finishing Mark King.

Race 2

Race 2 saw Peter Floyd come from the rear of the field to win but he got little resistance as he passed Gary, who played a calculated hand to finish in the points in 2nd place.

RACE 2 : SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 18th

Race 3

Gary drove a consistent race to finish 3rd with his two rivals falling by the wayside. Barrie Nesbitt finished off a shocker of a weekend to DNF and Mark King could only manage a 6th place.
